OFFICERS REPORTS
Chairperson – Scott Stevenson welcomed the visitors, especially the liaisons. He hopes to see them next month. Scott explained the meeting structure to the new visitors.
Treasurer – Barry introduced Joe Ellison, Account Exec, with Dean Witter, Beverly Hills.
Motion: To suspend the rules to allow Joe to present information to the WSOB regarding
Money Market Accounts. Seconded. PASSED.
Joe informed the WSOB that an insured money market account with Dean Witter would cost $100.00 per year, inclusive for a corporation. Any cash in the account is “swept” daily. This allows any excess money in checking account to be put into the money market account daily, rather than weekly or monthly as other firms do. The accounts are FDIC insured. The interest

rate last reported to Joe was 4.4%. We currently average 2.43% at Sanwa. The interest rate fluctuates daily. Joe strongly suggested that the WSOB formulate investment policy guidelines to avoid future “emotional” or “impulsive” investments. Joe stated that Dean Witter has been in business for 70 years, and is the most conservative of the brokerage houses. Discussion. The Dean Witter account would replace the current Reserve Account held at Sanwa Bank. The money is as accessible as Sanwa Bank. Barry asked Joe to check into any non-profit exemptions that the firm may offer. Joe stated that the $100.00 fee would be refunded if we are not happy within a years time. Joe will obtain a list of other non-profit corporations as references.

The Board agreed that we pass on NAADAC conference this year and remain on the mailing list.
The Board agreed that we pass on the Bacon’s Media Directory.
New Board member signatures on the checking account was briefly discussed and tabled until the next meeting.
A letter was distributed listing available merchandise. K.D. wishes to put the letter into chip and literature orders with the new order forms to increase sales. K.D. also mentioned the fact that she would like to distribute the letter to the individual groups as well as the Area chip and literature chairperson. She expressed concern about groups being offered merchandise from World Services that are normally purchased from their District or Area. Many Areas mark up their merchandise. Would the WSO be stepping on toes by initiating this. It was suggested that the letter be altered, possibly into a flyer, simply listing the merchandise and to “contact your chip and literature chairperson”. K.D. will work on the flyer and report back.
Motion: To include letter as is in chip and literature orders for 90 days. Seconded. PASSED.
OLD BUSINESS
French Translation
K.D. gave a status report on the WSO’s progress. Two bids have been obtained, at least one more will be obtained. The bids were $16,000 and $5,000 US dollars. K.D. left a message for Sylvie saying that she had received her notes and faxes, and that the WSOB would be discussing the translation tonight. She would like to know printing specifics i.e. quantity, paper stock and binding. K.D. passed around a sample book that Sylvie sent down. It is the French version of the AA 12 and 12. K.D. acquired the services of a member of the Fellowship who’s native language is French. He will be joining the translation sub committee. K.D. gave him copies of Montreal’s two top choices of translations to let us know how the translation was, whether it was Parisian or Quebecous. He is willing to be of service.
K.D. expressed her concern over the project and it’s lack of direction and guidance from the Trustees.
A letter was submitted and approved to send to Montreal. K.D. will fax letter to Jim Scott for review before mailing.

Office Move
The lease was reviewed and discussed for the new office space. It was the general consensus of the WSOB that this lease was not a gross lease, as represented. There seemed to be additional, hidden charges that would increase our actual monthly outlay in excess of $2,000 per month. Barry will speak with our Broker and report back to the Board. It was agreed that no action would be taken without further discussion by the WSOB.
WSC Referrals
K.D. will report back on WSC referrals next meeting.
Manager Evaluation
The Manager’s evaluation has been noted and discussed. Compensation adjustment tabled.
NEW BUSINESS
Motion: To transfer $10,859.22 from the Reserve account to the Operating account to cover the Sheraton Bill. Seconded. PASSED.
MEETING ADJOURNED at 10:52 pm.
