World Service Conference of Cocaine Anonymous Day 1 Daily Summary September 2, 2015

Tony D. called the session to order at 7:01p.

Tony D. – Good evening. Welcome to the 32nd World Service Conference of Cocaine Anonymous. I am Tony D., your chairperson. Let me know if you any questions about how the Conference will be operating.

Tony D. leads the floor in the Serenity Prayer.

Tony D. – Tonight Gregory will read ‘We Can Recover.’ Gregory A. reads ‘We Can Recover.’

Tony D. – Thank you, Gregory. Pierre will read the Preamble.

Pierre K. reads the Preamble in Afrikaans.

Tony D. – Thank you. Maria from the UK will read the 12 Traditions.

Maria M. reads the 12 Traditions.

Tony D. – Thank you, Maria. Now Devin will read the 12 Concepts in ‘Canadian.’ Devin R-F. reads the 12 Concepts.

Tony D. – Thank you, Devin. Welcome to the 2015 World Service Conference. I believe it is our 32nd Conference. This is only my 16th. A couple things to cover before roll call. How many folks have never been to Conference? Raise of hands, please. I think there is a bit of nerves on the first day. Feel free to jump in and ask questions. Hope all of you will follow the Traditions, Concepts, etc. Our guidance comes through a Higher Power while we are here. There can be some emotional topics, etc, please remain open to the process. We abide by Love, Patience and Tolerance of all. A couple new things this year. We have a new document system. You received an invite to Box where we will be storing documents on-line. Bring your reports to the front – 4 copies to the dais, then the copies for the floor. Trevor and I will come to your committee to show you how to use Box. We will try to not print 150+ copies of the closing reports. We will need patience with this new process and hope to save costs for the fellowship. We also have the electronic voting system. As you go through roll call, you will stop by Susan and Jay to get the ‘clicker’ and your Conference coin. You will turn the clicker in at the end of the session. We will now proceed with roll call. This will establish the quorum for this session. We have a nice change here at a new hotel. Please keep side conversations to a minimum, go outside please. You have to be announced at the mic to be counted and to vote at this session. Make sure you sitting where you want to sit as this will be your seat for the rest of the Conference. Move now if you want to. I’ll try to remember everyone’s name, but sometimes it doesn’t happen. Don’t call a POO just to fix the spelling of your name. It will get fixed in edit. When you come to the mic, speak your full name, need your last name for the record, what position you hold, and number of votes you have. Please refrain from extra commentary. Ginger Lane – We have a couple people who won’t be here to do the seating chart at this time. Tony D. – Please get with Susan.

Susan L. – If you are saving a spot for someone who will be here later, please say their name after yours when you do roll call.

Debbie (from Austin) – I didn’t get the email for the Box.

APPROVED Redacted Page 1 of 28

Tony D. – Get with Jay F. for help with this. We will use Box for the closing reports. Remember, questions need to go through the mic. Roll call start with the right side, center, then left.

143 total votes, 96 quorum.

Tony D. – We have 143 total votes, 96 quorum. Jay, Susan, Cindy …. any announcement?

They all said no.

Tony D. – Remember to tape down extension cords using approved tape obtained from Susan in the Office. Anything up here on the dais is for our use. Please do not borrow them. Take questions to Trevor, please. We will take breaks as needed, please don’t leave unless it is during break. Don’t be afraid of the mic, speak into the mic. Everything needs to go through the mic. Transcripts don’t recognize body language. Votes will be electronic. They will time out after a bit. After you turn on the clicker, you will see the message flash, that means you are connected. When we vote, I will announce this every time. A button is ‘For,’ C button is ‘Against’ B & D buttons are for nothing, not using at all. Please don’t press the button before we are ready. You have 2 clickers if you have 2 votes, you have to vote on both clickers. Questions to the mic, please. Is there anyone here who doesn’t have a laptop, tablet, smartphone? Few hands raised. Alright, that is helpful info as there are a few other electronic voting options that would use these devices instead of the clickers.

Maria M. – If we want to abstain, what do we do?

Tony D. – Do not press any button if you want to abstain.

Tom P. – Do we carry this clicker around all weekend?

Tony D. – The intent was to turn them in at the end of each session. We might change the system, so you might end up keeping it with you. Dane T. – Are numbers coming up on the screen?

Tony D. – No, I will announce the results. Take your phones out and set them so they do not make any noise. Thank you. Now time for Trevor.

Trevor S. – I am the Vice Chair/Parliamentarian. There are a lot of the basics in the Manual. Trevor covers parliamentary procedures. Robert’s Rules can be a very powerful tool. Please play nice.

Tony D. – Reminder, you must be recognized to speak at the mic. Exceptions are objections or Parliamentary inquiry. Only members may make motions and/or vote. Other persons may speak at my discretion. You get 1 question, then your turn is over. You can get back in line for a new question.

Tony D. covers other voting procedures.

Tony D. – Referrals are all done electronically.

Tony D. outlines referrals that could be returned to the originator.

Tony D. – Please review the Standing Rules (SR).

Tony D. – ‘Working Together, Never Alone’ is the Conference Theme. Are there any new Area petitions?

Rob W. – Yes, it was sent out in SR-14. I will get you hard copies soon.

APPROVED Redacted Page 2 of 28

Tony D. – Any other area petitions? Ok, we will proceed without the hard copies.

Rob W. – Motion to establish a new Area called CA Denmark.

Tony D. – Motion made and seconded.

Vote 002 – Motion passes with substantial unanimity.

Tony D. – Are there any petitions to change areas? Seeing none, we will break until 8:45p. Tony D. – Call to order
