C.A. WORLD SERVICE CONFERENCE 2019
LITERATURE, CHIPS, & FORMATS (LCF) COMMITTEE REPORT
INTRODUCTION AND OPENING COMMENTS:
The C.A. World Service Conference Literature, Chips, and Formats (LCF) Committee has worked diligently throughout the past year to deliver a significant number of materials both for production, and WSC approval. Our projects often span multiple years, beginning as referral submissions to become WSC approved concepts, moving through the Pamphlet, Book, or Chip Approval Processes, and into publishing or production. Most of your questions concerning how our processes work can be best answered by referencing our WSC approved LCF guidelines which are included in your 2019 Conference Materials on the Box and can also be found on ca.org under the service tab.

SUMMARY OF COMMITTEE MATTERS WORKED ON THROUGHOUT THE YEAR
LCF main committee activities during the past year include seven (7) conference calls which focused on committee business and moving our various projects forward. There are currently a total of eleven (11) projects in various points of approval. LCF projects usually have a subcommittee lead who oversees the writing process and reports bi-monthly progress to the main LCF committee. Below is a brief description of each project and its current status:
12 Concepts Inventory Pamphlet (Patric M.): This new piece was approved as a concept by the 2014 WSC and would be useful as an inventory process for Districts and Areas, much as the Traditions Group Inventory is used for Groups. This piece is in its final stages of draft revision as per Point 5 of the Pamphlet Approval Process. Projected SR-14 Submission in 2020.

Traditions & Concepts Illustrated (Melanie V.): Another new piece, this is an illustrated pamphlet/booklet that addresses the Traditions and Concepts and was approved as a concept by the 2011 WSC. This piece is in its final stages of draft revision as per Point 5 of the Pamphlet Approval Process.
Suggested Business Meeting Format: The concept of this piece was approved by the 2018 WSC and its draft was submitted in the 2019 SR-14 mailing. Its purpose is to provide new Groups a suggested agenda in conducting Group Business Meetings and facilitate their joining the C.A. service structure. We are excited to bring a motion for your approval at 2019 WSC.
Group Pamphlet (Tammy H.): Approved as a concept at 2017 WSC, this piece’s intent is to assist new Groups in understanding how Groups work and how the service structure is built. This piece is currently under review as per Point 6 of the Pamphlet Approval Process.
Daily Principles Card (Patric M.): Also approved as a concept at 2017 WSC, this piece answers multiple referrals asking for a wallet sized card for use as daily guidance and inspiration. The LCF approved draft of this piece has been forwarded to the WSBT for review as per Point 7 of the Pamphlet Approval Process. Projected SR-14 submission 2020.

Being a GSR Pamphlet (Justin C./Cynthia C.): The concept of this piece was approved by the 2018 WSC and its draft was submitted in the SR-14 mailing. It describes the role and responsibilities of a Group Service Representative. We are excited to bring a motion for your approval at 2019 WSC.
A Message to Professionals (Cynthia C.): The concept of this piece was approved by the 2018 WSC and submitted in the 2019 SR-14 mailing. It was developed in cooperation with the CAWS Public Information Committee, aiming to provide information about C.A. to professionals within your communities. We are excited to bring a motion for your approval at WSC 2019.
C.A. Lifeline Pamphlet (John H.): The concept of this piece was approved by the 2018 WSC and submitted in the SR-14 mailing. It was developed in cooperation with the CAWS H&I Committee to assist in a newcomer’s transition from the treatment setting and into the C.A. Fellowship. We are excited to bring a motion for your approval at 2019 WSC.
12 Step Companion Guide (Elizabeth S.): This piece was approved as a concept by the 2004 WSC. Its purpose to provide guidance and reference for both sponsor and sponsee, working the 12-Steps together. The sub-committee has made significant progress over the past year. This project is currently in C.A. Book Approval Process Point 9. Projected publishing in 2020.

In the Light of our Experience (NEW LEAD!): This piece was approved as a concept at 2003 WSC. Its purpose is to provide a book based on C.A.’s experience with the 12 Steps and the 12 Traditions. Over the passing years, many current and previous LCF members have contributed to its research and development. I am now very excited to bring you the news that this project will soon be led by a very qualified and experienced member “emeritus” who has agreed to return to LCF and lead a team to bring you this highly anticipated work. More will be revealed soon!
LCF Guidelines Update (Cynthia C., Tom P., Justin C.): The 2019 LCF Guidelines update provides a more detailed explanation of our committee’s trusted servants’ qualifications and roles including election procedures, a clearly defined organizational and workflow system, and a standardized naming convention for all our files. We are excited to bring a motion for your approval of these changes at 2019 WSC.
SUMMARY OF SR14 MATERIALS SUBMITTED IN 2019 AND WHAT TO EXPECT DURING THE COMMITTEE MOTIONS LATER THIS WEEK
As indicated above in this report, and per SR-14, we’ve provided notice that we are bringing motions seeking your approval of LCF Committee approved drafts of four (4) previously approved concepts, including three (3) draft pamphlets, a draft suggested business meeting format, plus a draft update to our committee guidelines. We

expect that in addition to these items, we will also bring forward additional motions for new concepts yet to be considered, as well as some possible changes to existing materials/concepts. Again, please refer to our LCF Guidelines which may aid in providing answers to questions you may have about how our processes work.

LCF 2019-6 From Spencer R.Re-recording HFC audio books for the UK using voice actors from the UK.
LCF 2019-8 From None.Inquiry into the environmental friendliness our current use of plastic is for key tags.
LCF 2019-9 From David R. Request for the 24-pocket book/pamphlet rack be produced in the UK to reduce its current price/postage cost.
LCF 2019-12 From John H. An inquiry about translating the Suggested Meeting formats into other languages like, French and Dutch.

CLOSING COMMENTS
As we come together this year to report on and continue our service, I am reminded again of how much I love this Fellowship and what an honor it is for me to serve on this committee. LCF members have the privilege of creating materials that fulfill our Primary Purpose. They are utilized every time a C.A. Group meets, and they go places we often cannot. Our books, pamphlets, formats, and key-tags can be found in rooms across the globe and in several languages, with many more assuredly to come. You’ll find our work in the offices of professionals, inside jails and institutions, and in the pockets of newcomers and old-timers alike.
I can still recall the very first time I heard a C.A. member read “Who is a Cocaine Addict” aloud in a meeting. Those words changed me. I became instantly unashamed as I realized that there were people just like me in that room. From that moment on I have known, absolutely, that I am in the right place. I knew that you people understood me, accepted me, and that with you I finally had found a place where I belong. Since then, I have always maintained that C.A. has the best literature of any other fellowship. However, it has only been during the past four years, during my time here on the LCF committee, that I have learned why that is true. The amount of love and dedication to service that this committee puts into these works cannot be

measured. Being a part of this process has had a tremendously positive impact on my recovery, and my life, and has been a profoundly Spiritual Experience.
If you are looking for a committee to join, LCF has a place for you. No special training or experience is necessary, your desire to be of service is sufficient.
