TRUSTEE REPORTS

1. WORLD SERVICE OFFICE TRUSTEE REPORT – BRIAN NORTH

PROJECTS COMPLETED –

-Soft cover books HOPE, FAITH AND COURAGE have finally been received.

-The PI Fact File has been received and sent out to the delegates and is available to the fellowship. Also the latest CAWS Service Manual is available for distribution. Copies have been sent out to all delegates, Trustees and WSOB.

FOR YOUR INFORMATION –

-The Office Assistant Lenny Schachter has done a great job during KD’s maternity leave. She returned August 23,1995.

-The Board set up a prisoner book fund of $500.00. This money was moved from another portion of the budget and has been used already to supply soft cover Storybooks to prisoners who cannot get access otherwise.

-It came to attention that CAWSO is required to file a Personal Property Tax return in the State of Indiana for the merchandise (books) we hold at RR Donnelley & Sons, Co. The current assessment from the taxing authority is approximately $4,500.00. CAWSO has not yet been able to get non-profit status due to the failure to submit a timely request. An attempt is being made to submit a report as soon as possible in order to obtain an exemption.

PROJECTS PENDING AND STATUS-

-French translation project- more than 50% of the Storybook has been translated, with the latest portion just recently received. The CAWSO reviewer has acknowledged receipt of the package and should be done with her review shortly. Progress continues with the identification of a printer. A “number to be

printed” should be determined during the Conference.

-The WSO continues research on the second printing of the first edition of HOPE FAITH AND COURAGE.

-The process to replace the Office Assistant has begun.

MAY 1995 WSBT REFERRALS TO THE WSO

-Allow up to $2,500.00 is seed money to the Atlanta Area fellowship hosting the 1996 WSC Convention. Done, sent letter to Bill A., Chairman outlining the allowance and specifying the procedures in making any requests.

Reaffirm that the policy of the CAWSO is that there be no credit issued for the purchase of any item for sale by the CAWSO. Done, policy reaffirmed by the Board in June 1995.

INTER AREA GROUP: This is a loose confederation of all seven Areas within the Region. All seven Areas send representatives once every two months (even months). They meet the first Sunday of each month at noon in the Long Beach Memorial Hospital in a room just off the cafeteria. Information on event times and locations are shared. Area chairs of different committees are selected to share their individual experience, i.e., one month all PI chairs are invited and the following month may be the H&l chairs or area treasures, etc. Common problems and solutions are also discussed. An annual April Campout (Campvention) is held once a year at Lake Peris. Funds are split in eight equal share-one to the World Service Office and one to each of the seven areas. The areas have found it cheaper to buy insurance for their central offices and local events as a group. They have done this the past year and are pursuing an expanded program with other areas like Northern California. A meeting with delegates from this area has been scheduled at the World Service Conference. There is a rotating 4th Step Workshop that is moved from area to area throughout the year. There were plans

for a Celebrate Around the World-type event to be held in November to coincide with the World Unity Day to raise money for World Service Office, to be held at Disneyland. But it had to be cancelled because the selected date fell through. The idea was voted on and approved by all areas with 100% of the profit to go to WSO. The region will be bidding for the 1998 World Service Convention. The Trustee nominees selected to replace the outgoing Bob Campbell are:
