* Attended the 1990 Conference and participated as a Trustee.
** Attended the 1992 Conference and participated as a Trustee.
John Pytel, Public Information committee chairperson, reviewed the actions of the PI committee and the items referred to them before showing the 3 Conference- approved video PSAs (“Shattered Lives”, “London Bridges”, “Blowing Up”), and two more, (an untitled video by Larry F., and “This Could Be Your Day”).
A PI committee motion to “approve the concept to record selected CA literature onto audio tape” was tabled.
Bob Carlson gave the history of the storyboarded prospective PSA that he presented. He named five points as requirements for the PSA; one, must be national-broadcast quality; two, be focused on the fellowship and recovery and not the disease; three, must not depict the ingestion of drugs; four, incorporate ethnic and racial diversity into the video; and five, use the new slogan, “We’re here and we’re free”.
A PI committee motion to “approve the storyboard presented for production into a
187 video entitled, “Going Down” initially passed but after surviving failed motions to table and adjourn, Howard Eley’s motion to RECONSIDER THE PREVIOUS MOTION (APPROVING “GOING DOWN” PRODUCTION) passed.
With the previous motion blocking action on the “Going Down” concept, John Pytel withdrew the original motion and asked for input from storyboard critics after the Conference session.
A motion (and discussion) to “suspend the rules to consider extending the Conference session” preceded a successful MOTION TO ADJOURN.
The viewing of a marketing video, promoting Salt Lake City as a desirable World Service Convention location, preceded The Lord’s Prayer.
