Trevor S. – Called the session to order at 8:03 AM PST with the Serenity Prayer. Welcome back everyone. Hope everyone got some sleep. We are scheduled to be here until Noon. Asked Nicholas L. to read.
Nicholas L. – Read “We Can Recover.”
Trevor S. – Thank you. Jerico McM. has an announcement.
Jerico McM. – Passing round a card for people to sign for Rose and Daniel Gillet, who are delegates from Texas and have been impacted by the flooding in Texas.
Trevor S. – Roll call will start with the right side of the room, first row.
Trevor S. – Total votes on the floor is 168. Quorum is 111. We cannot use the clickers this morning, so we will be voting by a show of hands. Now the 5th Concept Statement will be heard.
Paul S. – In last night’s discussion, there might have been misunderstanding on why Colorado Area was of no opinion on the new area petition. It was not our intend to cause harm, it was trying to not cause conflict. We did not want to appear as if there was fighting within the Area. They are doing great work in S. Colorado Area. The Area didn’t feel the process was followed according to Principles. Feel things were done in secret. I still speak against the motion for that reason, not because they are not doing great things. The Colorado Area feels the principles were not followed and there was not enough communication between the two areas. Colorado Area will support the S. Colorado Area.
Trevor S. – Thank you.
Rob W. – 5th Statement Concept. I am a member of the Colorado Area. I’ve been part of Colorado since I came into C.A. It was very difficult last night for me. Since I have been here it was the state of Colorado, not two areas. Colorado Area is a mature area. I came into C.A. because I didn’t have accountability to anyone. We need to be accountable. Denver is not the big brother”, it is there to help with process. The current and past Trustees from the Colorado Area were against this petition. That should tell you all something.
Trevor S. – We will start . . .
Stu E. – Point of Order, last night you said you would listen to 5th Concept Statements.
Trevor S. – I said I would hear ‘a’ 5th Concept Statement. Normally, I need to know about 5th Concept Statements ahead of time, but I will hear yours now.
Stu E. – 5th Concept Statement – Part of the issue was that the S. Colorado Area was not participated in the existing area. There is a way to do things. You go to the Area to try to work things out first before coming to the conference floor. It is disturbing that a ‘renegade’ meeting can do their own thing for a while, come to Conference and petition to be an Area. This is not the right way to handle this issue. It should have been addressed at the area level more thoroughly.
Trevor S. – Thank you. We are now going back to the Agenda. WSBT report next.
