C.A. WORLD SERVICE CONFERENCE 2007

CONVENTION COMMITTEE REPORT (8-29-07)

Approved Page 14

INTRODUCTION AND OPENING COMMENTS:

The WSC Convention Committee met once during the 2007 CAWS convention in Kansas City, MO and corresponded throughout the year via email. We facilitated the CAWS Convention Information Exchange meeting held during CAWS 2007 where many ideals and processes for improvement were shared.

This is a summary of the actions the WSCCC 2006 – 2007.

Since the 2006 Conference we have:

  • Updated the CAWS Convention Committee Guidelines reflecting the changes of the 2006 WSC.
  • Selected the Steering Committee for the 2010 CAWS convention in Milwaukee, Wl.
  • Worked on four (4) post conference referrals: #3136, #5128, #5133 & #5156
  • Worked with the WSO to request and review bids for the CAWS 2011 convention.
  • Determined the need for major house keeping and re structuring of the WSCCC Guidelines
  • Discussed the development of internal procedures for the WSCCC.
  • Reduced expenses through email communication, (eliminated conference calls)
  • Moved to elevate the CAWS 2009 Registration Chair to a voting member of the CAWS 2009 Steering Committee
  • The WSCCC Vice Chair stepped down via email on 8-27-09

CAWSO will provide a brief overview of CAWS 2007 in Kansas City, MO.

Terry Marsden will provide a brief update on the CAWS 2008 convention in Salt Lake, Utah,

Jay Finesilver will provide a brief update on the CAWS 2009 convention in Denver, CO.

Tony Drake will provide a brief update on the CAWS 2010 convention in Milwaukee, Wl

We received one (1) bid for the CAWS 2011 convention from Phoenix, AZ. which will be presented on the conference floor. In order to use the Conference time wisely and to allow the members of the Conference sufficient time review and discuss the proposals for CAWS 2011 convention, the WSC Convention Committee will now ask the Arizona Area to make their presentations to the floor. Copies of the bid are being distributed to the floor for review prior to voting.

The WSC Convention Committee is a continuous work to define and refine the process by which we fulfil! our purpose as stated in the World Service Manual. We hope that many of the new delegates wilt join us for several reasons, but mainly because we need new perspectives, fresh ideals and open minds. The WSCCC is a committee that is committed to bringing the fellowship the best conventions that promote enthusiasm and unity, and financial support for the World Services’ effort to carry the message to the addict that still suffers.

We thank you for allowing us the opportunity to be of service to the fellowship of Cocaine Anonymous.
