COMMITTEE WORK THAT RESULTED IN MOTIONS

None.

REFERRALS THAT RESULTED IN MOTIONS

Approved Page 109 of 137

None.

REFERRALS OR ITEMS TABLED UNTIL NEXT YEAR; AND ITEMS THE COMMITTEE WILL CONTINUE WORKING ON THROUGH THE YEAR

Referral #5617 Pamphlet re Reaching out to the Deaf and Hard of Hearing using British Sign language

Please produce a version of the pamphlet “reaching out to the deaf and hard of hearing” that uses British sign language (SL). This would make the pamphlet useful for the UK fellowship. Currently the only pamphlet available uses American sign language.

Response: This item will be added to the WSOB agenda for consideration.

Referral # 6251 Link on Website for WSO Procedures

Effective immediately, that a version maintained copy of the World Service Office procedures manual be loaded onto the CA Website. This is to outline procedures and job descriptions. No personal information which would contravene California employment law is requested to be uploaded.

Response: This item will be added to the Web Servant’s list.

Referral #6471What’s New Box on CA.org

Please could you consider adding a “What’s New” box on the CA.org homepage. This would allow members to easily see when new guidelines, etc. have been uploaded to our website.

Approved Page 110 of 137

Response: This item will be added to the Web Servant list, to be added to the new website, currently under development.

Referral # 6551 Current PSA in HD

That the owner of the current CA video PSA be asked to provide the PSA in an HD format, which is the industry standard.

Response: The WSO will contact the owner of the current PSA to make this request.

Referral # 6552 Spanish translation of certain statements

To create a Spanish translation of: 1) the Tradition 6 Statement, 2) the registered trademark statement, 3) the pdf Disclaimer. These are to be placed on a Spanish version website.

Response: Per our approved Translation Policy, we welcome the local translation committee to submit the translation of these items to the WSO.

Referral #6566 Contribution Form

I have filled out and submitted a 7th tradition donation form. As of yet, no donations have left my account. There is very little point in me promoting the use of this process in the UK if it does not work. If this is fixed a considerable influx of 7 donations will come from the UK.

Response: The WSOB is currently working to resolve international banking issues.

Referral #6602 Memorabilia for Fundraising

Approved Page 111 of 137

To produce memorabilia eg. Coffee Mugs for sale to the fellowship to help replace 7th tradition downside.

Response: The WSOB will add this item to its Agenda for review.

Referral # 6605 Link on CA Website for S&B Guidelines

Please add a link to the WSC S&B Committee Section for the WSC S&B Guidelines. The motion to approve the Guidelines and insert them into the delegate handbook was on day 4 of our 2010 Conference.

Response: This item will be added to the Web servant’s list.

Referral #6619 New Conference Committee called “Fundraising”

To create a new WSC Committee named “fundraising.” We believe the title of the committee is self-explanatory. But we believe CAWS would benefit from further revenue streams and creative global fundraising.

Response: The WSOB will create a Fundraising ad hoc committee at the close of this Conference.

Referral #6721 Electronic CA Books

Make the 2 CA books available for purchase by electronic media (ie: for I-Phones, Kindle, Bookmook, etc) and charge a fee for those entire set.

Response: This item will be added to the WSOB Agenda for consideration.

Referral #6765 Include Balance Sheet in NewsGram

Please include in the monthly NewsGram a snapshot of our balance sheet showing last year-this year income and expenses year to date this and last year.

Approved Page 112 of 137

My area AA Newsletter does it and it is very helpful to show where we are at financially. Nobody knows what it takes to run CA on a monthly basis.

Response: This will be added to our quarterly NewsGram.

Referral # 6769 Website and IT ticketing system access

Please provide IT Committee members with access to the website and IT ticketing system

Response: IT Committee members will be provided access to the website and IT ticketing system.

Referral # 6813 Swedish translation of HFC

That the WSO, on receipt of translated text prepare text and arrange printing of HFC 2 in Swedish. Within the process, WSO to check translation . CAWSO to small print runs and/or look into using a Swedish based book printer to alleviate shipping costs.

Response: Per our approved Translation Policy, after receipt of said translation, the WSO will verify the translation via professional translator and proceed toward publication.

REFERRALS OR ITEMS REFERRED TO OTHER COMMITTEES

Referral #6613 Duties of Secretary

Insert language – strike. Page 55 Secretary: #3) Make minutes and records available to CAWSO Board, WSBT (and Delegates via the Delegate Mailing). Strike “upon request.” Then continue (other members may receive said minutes and records upon request from the WSO.)

Approved Page 113 of 137

Referred back to Structure & Bylaws.

Referral #6583 Minutes in Delegate mailings

That effective immediately, all WSO, WSBT and Board Minutes be generated, reviewed and issues by the WSO via the quarterly delegate mailing no later than 3 months after the relevant meeting took place. This is to be added to the WSM.

Referred back to Structure & Bylaws.

Referral # 6622 Changing SR 14

Can we consider changing SR 14 “so that all delegates can receive and review materials at least (90 days) prior to the Conference”. In the UK, we need this time to compile reports, get them out to the fellowship to consider and get the fellowship’s conscience on the material. Maybe we could consider sending reports and minutes as they become available rather than waiting for the slow submitters to arrive before mailing. This is vital to the UK to give our members the right to participate.

Referred to Structure & Bylaws.

REFERRALS THAT DID NOT RESULT IN MOTIONS

Referral # 6600 PSA’s internationally by non-profits

Deal with international law to provide non-profit numbers to countries outside the US so the PSA’s can be used more inexpensively.

Response: The WSO does not have the ability to do this. The local area needs to establish its own non-profit status outside of the US.

Approved Page 114 of 137

Referral #6772 Phone Application for HFC

Last year, I mentioned why don’t we have an application for HFC on our phones? This would be just like the Bog Book Applications which are available. This could be beneficial financially as well.

Response: Thank you for the referral. This is a special project that, due to lack of resources, has been put on hold, as the DRPD position is currently suspended.

Referral #6592 French name for Cocaine Addict

Should we change the term “Cocaine Addict” (cocainomane) in the French literature to “Toxicomane”?

Response: This has been sent to the local translation committee to be determined.

NEW COMMITTEE STRUCTURE AS OF THIS CONFERENCE

Chair – Teresa N.

Vice-Chair – Elizabeth S.

Secretary – open

All Board members were ratified.

CLOSING COMMENTS

In September of 2005, my sponsor, after the completion of that year’s world service conference, pulled me aside at our Friday night meeting and suggested that I put together a service resume and submit it to the WSOB for consideration

in filling the open treasurer’s position. I offered the objection that I had no driver’s license. He responded that I know how to ride trains and buses. I offered the objection that I was only four years sober. He responded that I should let God worry about that. Six years later I can say from experience that my sponsor was right. Very directly I can offer that a loving God, as our ultimate authority, again and again expresses Himself in our group conscience.

I am truly grateful for the privilege of serving as a member of the world service board. Several mantras have guided me through this experience. ‘Cooperate, never criticize; to be helpful is our only aim’. ‘Do as I think God would have me do and humbly rely on Him’-He will bring serenity instead of calamity. ‘Every time I am disturbed, no matter the cause, there is something wrong with me’. And finally, our 5th tradition, “Each group has but one primary purpose — to carry its message to the addict who still suffers.” Personally, I have been allowed to grow, make mistakes and experience the extreme joy resulting from participation in a movement, guided by God and expressed in love.

Our C.A. World Service Office is operating efficiently and effectively. New groups are being enthusiastically welcomed and served. Existing groups receive prompt and courteous service. And the committee directly served by the WSO, the trustee board can be certain that its needs and concerns are being addressed and attended to.

I’d like to thank each member of the board for their dedicated service. Your actions and commitment are beautiful expressions of God’s loving hand. I congratulate and welcome Teresa as our new WSOB chair. Thanks to all of you for your commitment and love.

In loving service,

Tony D.: Any questions for the WSOB? Seeing none, please thank the committee. Next up is Convention.
