INTRODUCTION AND OPENING COMMENTS
NADCP Sub- Committee
The committee continues with follow-up from the 2017 conference. We are excited to see that participants are being proactive in contacting us. Meeting starter kits continue to be sent out. We are already preparing for and looking forward to next year. The local fellowship is excited to participate as it will be held at the Houston Convention Center May 30th – June 2nd 2018. The committee is putting forward papers in hopes of being a presenter at one of the upcoming conferences.
After the European participation in World Drug Day this year, the committee is actively seeking new events/conferences to participate in. We are eager to see what experiences this next year has in store.

PSA’s
We are excited to present a few new posters this year as well as “concepts” for three addition posters. We continue to encourage translations of our current PSA’s. However, it is exciting to see that with the participation around the world, for the first time we will be translating from Danish.
European PI- Sub-Committee-
This Committee continues to be an inspiration setting the example for us all. Not, only in participation but in the unity the committee generates. The committee also continues to produce innovative tools for communication with the professional community as well as media to reach the still suffering addict.
Stewards of PI Sub-Committee
This committee is off to an exciting start. We have created a whats app group to foster the same atmosphere we have seen in the European PI Sub-Committee. It is inspiring to see the communication already in process. We believe that the pimembersarea.org will be a huge asset to this committee offering many resources to members participating in PI efforts across the world.

Stuart J. – This is a system that has been developed by C.A. UK PI committee created as an evidence of attendance system and was approved in the European Region. We are presenting this for approval on a World level. (Stuart reads info from the PowerPoint.)
Melissa W. – The groups would have these cards, they could give them out at the end of the meeting to attendees as proof they attended a meeting. How many of you used to sign your own forms stating you went to a meeting?
Stuart J. – This is a system that is already in place in the UK and is not proof the attendees are sober. (Stuart continues to read from PowerPoint)

A C.A. member came to a meeting, it was her first meeting, I hooked her up with some females and she has 2 years sober now. She was an art director. She made these posters showing what a normie would see, and what an addict would see and may find triggering. Spilt sugar on a counter is just sugar to a normie, to an addict it looks like cocaine. Baby powder on the floor looks different to addicts. (showed video)
Kevin M. – In favor. This is brilliant. I’m not sure about these images, but I love the idea. Susan V. – In favor, based on everyone’s reactions, you do see this. I didn’t do cocaine, so would like to see other images.
Paul S. – In favor, this is awesome. How would we fund it? Is there a budget? Richard B. – Allison would do all the art work. We would connect her with the PI Committee to discuss funding, etc.
Tom P. – In favor, I appreciate the efforts of PI to try to bring in energy. I am in favor. Natalie L. – In favor of the poster. Do not like the idea of the ‘stunt’ discussed at the end.

Michael C. – Against this, the imagery didn’t do anything for me. However, I have learned from the program that I can go anywhere without getting triggered. We are about helping people not get triggered and not getting high anymore.

Carl R. – Against the motion, today when I see a bag of sugar, all I see is sugar. It used to be that when I saw the sugar, I wanted to get high. Back in the day, if I saw this it would just make me want to get high.

Gary M. – Against the motion, the presentation is not very powerful. Looking at the imagery, I didn’t get it. After listening to the video, I finally understood, but still don’t think the imagery is powerful enough.

Everything I’ve heard is about the artwork shown, size of logo, etc. All of those things would be discussed during development. These posters aren’t meant to speak to the people in this room, these are supposed to talk to the newcomers.
Ricky W. – In favor, these are supposed to be for the newcomers. We shouldn’t get
these images as we have had a spiritual awakening.
Chris (Alabama) – The book says I can recover, these are too subtle.
Stu E. – In favor, the fact that we have anything that gets anyone to look at it for 3-4 minutes is amazing. This is like walking by the wall of the store with advertisements and someone would have to stop to figure out what this was for. This is for the newcomer primarily. The newcomer is already using, the poster gives the message that there is somewhere to go when they are tired of the drugs.
Joanna H. – In favor, these are for the newcomer, it is about reaching out to the people who need to be in these rooms.
Tim A. – In favor, this is a concept for people who don’t even know we are here. Remember when you were out there and you woke up saying to yourself, crap I did it again. This poster helps people realize they are not alone. The problem is the thought, this would reach the others who have the thought of using.
Melissa W. – I’m an alcoholic and I got this poster at first glance because of you all. The PI video that came out last year only has pills and alcohol. Only a few people have ever told me that video is a trigger.

Cocaine Anonymous Website Template -approved at 2016 Conference Many thanks for creating and providing the template -I believe our District (West Country and South Wales) of CAUK were one of the first to use it. It’s been a brilliant tool and starting point for the construction of our new website www.casw.co.uk.
The web template currently uses PDF files for the C.A. pamphlets which form part of the literature page. On the literature page, when you click on a C.A. pamphlet you are taken to the PDF of the pamphlet contents. These PDF files can become quickly outdated -in fact, some of the them already are outdated due to changes implemented during the 2016 conference which happened concurrent to the approval of the web template (namely the ‘To the Newcomer’ Pamphlet which means the ‘To the Newcomer’ pages in the template ALSO need to be updated!)
I would propose that the IT committee look to amend the web template to remove the PDF pamphlets and instead use a hyperlink/embedded link redirecting the website user to the literature pamphlet content found on www.ca.org. This way the most up to date pamphlet content will always be displayed. It also reduces the admin/house keeping burden on web servants who build District/Area websites using this template ongoing. This was the conscience of our District PI Committee and as such we have already implemented the changes I am suggesting within our new website.

don’t use English pamphlets in Sweden.
Dawn M. – I’ve followed this refer since the start. The history behind this had some
conflicts previously about hyperlinks on other sites. Is this pdfs or hyperlinks? Melissa W. – This is linking to the pdfs hosted on the ca.org site.
Dawn M. – We are putting a hyperlink to on a website that hosts pdfs? Melissa W. – Yes.
Stu E. – Speak against motion as written. I’ve linked to things on websites in the past and not gotten the results I’ve needed. It seems subject to error to make people go to somewhere other than the website they are on to see literature. Worse to get nothing from a bad hyperlink rather than old literature.
Jason L. – I think this is a no brainer, I’m in agreement of this. To host pdfs on websites all over the world that are usually out of date doesn’t seem like a hard concept. LCF updates things on a regular basis and local sites don’t always keep up with these changes. A hyperlink to ca.org seems like a simple solution to this.
Wade S. – In favor, earlier I heard talk about clicking on a hyperlink and getting to the wrong location. This is great because the hyperlink takes them to ca.org, even if it is wrong, they are on ca.org and will see other things.

Jason L. – As a member of LCF, we have an approval process that is extensive. As PI develops more and more literature, they may need this same type of approval process. When you bring up a concept, I don’t know where you are going next with the concept. Could you consider developing something similar to the LCF process?

Suzanne V. – What I’m getting now is that you went to NADCP and from a result from that we sent out starter kits, are those kits going to professionals?
John O. – The professionals ordered the kits for their clients.
Natalie L. – The video that was showed, the baggies were photoshopped in there right,
those aren’t real?
John O. – Correct.
Rob W. – About NADCP, Linda complied results from past NADCP. Did you make contact with those previous people, do you have stats to show?
John O. – Yes, we contacted them. No, we don’t have stats.
Rob W. – So this year, we don’t get info to show how NADCP did this year? Will you get those stats in soon so the Trustees can see them?
John O. – Yes.
Suxanne V. – I’m still confused about the start kits. If a probation officer asked for a starter kit, we give it to them?
Richard B. – About visitors to the booth at NADCP, a judge showed up and said ‘I need meetings in my area.’ We got their info, we sent out a kit and helped get that judge in contact with members close to that location. The requirement is that a day and a space is present to have a meeting. Those requirements were met and a kit was sent out. We put people in touch with the judge to help get meetings established. Same thing with a social worker in another location. Conditions were put forth, those conditions were met, then the kits were sent out.
Suzanne V. – I am concerned with that process.
Anne M. – About NADCP, in your report, you mentioned you want to put forth papers to be a presenter at NADCP. Last year we gave PI money for this to be a one-time event.
How is PI going to fund these events? Are you talking about more than one conference in that budget year?
John O. – About the budget, we came in last year under budget. PI is very careful with every dime we have. In regards to the other NADCP conference, we are looking to attend, we are looking into have those funded by other areas/regions.
Anne M. – As far as I know, no motion has been brought to this floor to extend the PI reach. The motion was only for one NADCP, nothing else regardless of whether you came in under budget.
John O. – I stated we were looking at other Areas to sponsor it, not funds from the NADCP budget.

Paul S. – I’m excited that you continue to work with NADCP as drug court works great at the local level. As you meet people on a national level and gather info, are you putting them in contact with local people?
John O. – We are much more tech savy this time and we were able to better track this and get them in touch with people close to them, yes.
Randy M. – I am concerned about sending out kits to professionals, does this mean we have new meetings in those locations now?
John O. – We are following this and I understand there are 19 meetings from this now and we are waiting on hearing the requirements have been met before we send out the remaining requested kits.
Jason L. – I was looking for a motion in the SR-14 about continued attendance to NADCP and is being worked on by the WSBT. Did you say you have possession of the NADCP now?
John O. – Yes, that was voted last year for PI to take this on now. Jason L. – Did the Office attend?
John O. – Not this year.
Jason L. – We discussed this in our pre-conference assembly as this is money put out by the WSO for an event in USA. There was support for this to continue as we think this is money well spent. I wanted to make you aware there is support for PI presence at NADCP.
