Structure and By-Laws Committee
INTRODUCTION AND OPENING COMMENTS:
Welcome to the 2008 World Service Conference. The purpose of the Structure and By-Laws Committee is to formulate by-laws, guidelines, and structures by which Cocaine Anonymous can operate day-to-day, at Conferences and elsewhere around the world. Our goal as a committee is to leave the conference feeling as if we have given all we can to this Conference and not to have anyone “missing” from the committee after six days of intensive work. Last year the committee introduced a new version of the World Service Manual to the Fellowship. I would like to invite all those who have complained, questioned, or was ever curious about the World Service Manual to come and participate, help us fix all of our mistakes and learn more about your WSM. We will continue to break new ground as we formulate, reword, and change the structure that affects our World Service Conference and Cocaine Anonymous as a whole. I would also like to suggest to all Conference Delegates that everyone owes it to themselves and the Area’s they represent to join the Structure and By-Laws Committee at least one year of there term and learn more about this magical and sometimes confusing process.
COMMITTEE INTRODUCTIONS:
Our committee (ask S & B members to stand) this year along with many new and returning committee members from around the world.
Our current officers are, Bryan Seid – Chair, Gloria Bridget – Co-Chair, Niki Drake & Deborah Wilbert Co-Secretaries. All returning delegates from the Structure and Bylaws Committee are encouraged to rejoin in our quest to provide Cocaine Anonymous with the most up to date and comprehensive World Service Manual.
REFERRALS THAT WERE WORKED ON DURING THE YEAR:
Structure & By-Laws worked diligently this year on post conference referrals and referrals that were held over in committee; including a meeting at the World Service Convention and a number of emails.
CLOSING COMMENTS:
The Structure & By-Laws Committee encourages new membership to our group with great enthusiasm. It is a great committee for new delegates who would like to learn more about our manual and how business is conducted on this floor. Special thanks goes out to past Structure & By-Laws committee members comprised of the usual Dis-Barred Lawyers, Doctors that practice without a license, and an occasional Addict and Alcoholic, along with a host of other bright

characters. Come join our group where you can practice your manipulative skills and many of your other character defects. Unfortunately or fortunately, depending on how sick you are, our group demands late night sessions, early morning hours with little or no gratification from the floor and the development of taking hard knocks from, well, just about everyone not on the committee. Our hope is that when the conference is over you will feel a sense of accomplishment and know that the work we all do here continues to change the course of Cocaine Anonymous for its survival in the future. We encourage and challenge you to join us in making a difference with the 2009 World Service Manual.
TYFLMBOS,
Bryan Seid S & B Chair
Kevin Murphy – Any questions for S&B?
Jeffrey Ushry – In the future, it would be a good idea to see the referrals that you worked on during the year listed on the Opening Report.
Bryan Seid – I would have hoped that a former delegate would have passed on our report from the floor next year.
