2013 CLOSING REPORT
CONVENTION COMMITTEE REPORT
INTRODUCTION AND OPENING COMMENTS
Opening Comments
I would like to thank the World Service Conference Convention Committee for allowing me to serve as your Chair. It has been, as always, a humbling and exhilarating experience, and also tiring at times. A huge thank you to the WSC Convention Committee members, as well as Linda F, who all spent hours on conference calls throughout the year. I feel like the work we’ve done throughout the year and in committee breakout sessions will make planning World Service’s biggest fundraiser of the year easier. All members spent hours going through referrals that were submitted to this committee. We also looked at ways we could enhance the current Guidelines to better serve our members. Additionally, our committee reviewed and substantiated the 2017 convention bids. LET THE PARTY BEGIN!!

Jason L: Is that supposed to include the items under the Advisory Opinion…
Tom P: Is that to exclude maps or other items?
Reggie L: No.
Terry M: Are we asking the Source Table to sell books? Speaks against the motion. It is like putting another person in place to be accountable for money and material.

approved Literature in the WSM. The specific selection is to be determined by the group conscience of the host convention city.
Cynthia C: The issue of whether we can sell this literature gets confused. It should be some autonomy of the host city to sell.
Peter O: Is the language “makes available” to sell or giving away.
Reggie L: It is up to the host city.
Vonya Q: Speaks in favor. Hard to understand why we would not sell our literature.
Sarah T:

Tony D: If everyone could find their seats please.
PI John M: Were the counters of that vote instructed on how to count?
Tony D: I did not instruct, but will in the future. I will ask when the counters, when they come in, how they counted.
Russell S: 5th Concept statement – I would like to clarify. I am a member of C.A. In voting to endorse the sale of the BB, we are undermining the traditions of AA and C.A. I respect those who trudged through the debate to create a disclaimer. It is not the responsibility of our World Services to distribute the BB, but of our members (with the disclaimer).
Parlimentary Inquiry John M – Can you confirm that those counts were counted accurately?
Tony D: Heidi did you count this as one vote (closed fist) and this as two votes (peace sign).

Please remove the Regional Caucus meeting and conference subcommittee meetings from the World Convention. We have the communication tools available to complete our work without pushing our area into the additional expense of attending convention.
