  • CAWS 2015 (Rob) See report; Contract will honor what we signed. Moving along very well.
  • CAWS 2016 (Brian) Steering committee meeting monthly, Working on registration form. Hotel is by the river.
  • CAWS 2017 (Terry) Went to the area convention, looking for a hotel liaison. Memorial day weekend.

2013.11.06 Transcriptions of the quarterly update (Yves/Rob) We do not have a transcriber for MAY or AUGUST, We do not pay the going rate, maybe look for a secretary or get some bids on a out side service.

2013.11.08 Incorporation of Areas (Russell/Yves) Issue is it is not clear for areas, how to incorporate, the use of are name in the fillings. Need an incorporation document that talks about we should not incorporate the groups. Each country has its own needs.

2014.01.01 New www.ca.org site update (Kenny/Russell) 90% of the site is completed, going through a internal review process as we go along. Trying to get a real site that cost 12,000.00 for 2,500.00. will we ever learn that cheap is not always the best.

2014.08.01 Outside influences regarding beliefs having issues in some areas that are using non C.A. literature.

To change all “CA” owned entities to private foundations and change 501c3 to 509c2.

See attachment for reasons.

  • The would limit legal expenses
  • This would eliminate the 150 mile rule
  • This would change (increase) member’s ability to donate
  • This would eliminate State mandates imposed on public benefit not-for-profits
  • This would change four tax status and save us money

Thank you for your referral. We are continuing to discuss and review all the points of your referral. If needed, we will apprise you of future movement on this referral.

Father Francis came in and discussed the pros and cons of having a non-addict trustee on the board. He served the board starting in 1993 and served a 3 year term. Are guidelines are very basic and do not cover the selection,

Motion to table the discussion on the non-addict trustee.

In order to clarify the incorporation requirement for our areas, we would like to suggest the following:

To update the World Service Manual

On page 24

Add to the last paragraph under the heading THE AREA:

If an area chooses to or needs to incorporate, be advised that the name “Cocaine Anonymous” is owned by the Fellowship as a whole and is not to be used in the name of any corporate entity.

On page 24 : 1. The Area Service Committee is entrusted with local Fellowship Incorporation.
