C.A. WORLD SERVICE CONFERENCE 2026
PUBLIC INFORMATION COMMITTEE REPORT
INTRODUCTION AND COMMENTS:
The Public Information Committee wishes to thank you for allowing us to be of service for yet another productive year. Over the last twelve months, the PI Committee has grown not only in sheer numbers, but blossomed in experience, talent, dedication, and straight-up, non-stop, caffeinated “CAN DO!! Won’t stop until we drop!!” spirit.
“The ‘PI Rocks Roadshow’ needs a facelift,” we said. Our Media Subcommittee said, “We will give them two versions to choose from” The Fellowship chimes in, “We want more posters!”
And the PI Committee answers in kind, “we’ve got your posters, and will raise you postcards, sticker templates and even an animated poster!” (We also help customize them, be sure and tell your fellows!)
In an effort to be more responsible stewards of the finances of C.A., our Survey Subcommittee began its second year utilizing the free Google Forms to collect the data which creates our Fact File each year. This has shown to have a few challenges, but the committee has bounced back, made updates, and we believe the data will be more dialed in than ever for the next survey!
More will be revealed!
Our newly established Professional Outreach Sub-Committee proved productive in pumping up the Power Point for Professionals.
It made us cringe, it confused many a member of C.A., and it could be said it was missing a few things… but it’s official, the “PI Members Area” website will now be known as the “C.A. Public
Information Resource Area…” Now this subcommittee of one and her posse of moral support

have burnt some midnight oil and possibly burnt up a few hard drives… but, (drum roll please)… great strides were made in bringing all conference approved materials front and center on the C.A. Public Information Resource Area. New name, new content… Check it out!
The PI All Rise team packed their bags and took their PI playbook to Nashville from July 20th through the 23rd to carry the message to the professionals at RISE26.
ALL RISE (formerly NADCP) is one of the nation’s largest gatherings of justice and treatment professionals, bringing together about 10,000 people who are committed to improving outcomes through collaboration. This year’s conference focused on the growing need to address substance use throughout the justice system, with practical tools to support public safety.
The PI team had great support from members of the PI Committee, along with local fellowship members from the Nashville area. When the All Rise Committee learned that the literature rack, banner, and other materials used at past conferences were no longer available, the team got creative. Members in Idaho and Washington stepped up to help. Literature was acquired from Washington, and a literature rack was borrowed from Idaho.
Many attendees were surprised and excited to learn that C.A. existed and quickly asked for literature, pamphlets, and more information. It became clear just how much interest there was and when the team realized they were running low on literature, the Office came through.
More pamphlets were shipped overnight so the team could keep putting the message of hope and recovery into the hands of professionals who work every day with people struggling with addiction and dealing with the consequences of the justice system.
The team gathered a number of promising leads and the North American and Professional Outreach Committees will be following up. One of the All Rise organizers was especially appreciative of C.A.’s participation and has already asked that we continue being involved and share our input for next year’s conference.
The North American Public Informa on Summit took place in Phoenix, Arizona from February 18th through the 21st.. It may have been freezing and raining but we didn’t let that stop us from creating the magic you will find in this year’s SR14 and taking the World Office by storm. The
Summit brought together PI members from across the U.S., Canada, and even a few folks joining us remotely from around the world.
The goal was simple: share ideas, strengthen PI, welcome newcomers, reconnect with old friends, and—most importantly—make new ones. We accomplished all of that, with plenty of conversation, teamwork, and probably a little too much coffee.

Terry M. kicked things off with a look at the history and purpose of Public Informa on. We also heard from the Women’s C.A.R.E. outreach committee, which led to the forma on of a new North American ad-hoc committee that will also connect with WSCPI.
We visited the World Office, where Wesley B. gave us an informative—and thankfully interactive—session on the Traditions, SR14s, and the conference approval process. There were lots of questions, discussions, and a few lightbulb moments.
We also got our hands dirty helping with some projects at the office. It was a great few days of service, learning, fellowship, and friendship. We le Phoenix reminded that PI is serious business—but it’s a lot more fun when we do it together!
The worldwide fellowship asked, and the European Committee answered! To encourage participation from members across Europe and around the world, the European Summit was divided between two countries. The first session was held on March 21 at the European Regional Convention in Dublin, Ireland. The second was held on March 28 at the European Mainland Convention in Denmark. Members also joined remotely from around the world, making it a truly international gathering of Public Information members.
Sessions held included:
- How to build a committee and create a committee budget.
- Outreach to the professions and the All Rise (NADCP) committee/convention.
- Updating the PI Rocks Roadshow and video.
- The creation of posters, videos, additional media content and guidelines on usage.
- The annual survey and creation of the Fact File.
- The location for the 2027 North American Summit was selected. It will be held in Seattle
- Washington in February 2027.
Our Committee and Sub-committees continue to grow and it shows in the sheer numbers in WhatsApp…..we are adding contacts in WhatsApp almost daily. New members join us asking for advice, requesting help with customizing items for their areas, and even better, staying to find out what public information is all about.
As we look ahead, the PI Committee remains grateful for every member, committee, and the fellowship that continues to support this vital work. Together, we are carrying the message farther, sharing resources, and welcoming more members into the work of Public Information.
The future is bright, the ideas keep coming, and—of course—the coffee is still flowing. We look forward to another year of service, growth, and showing the world that C.A. is here and recovery is possible.

Background: We as a committee took a hard look at the state of our dated “P.I. Rocks Roadshow.” Last updated in 2018, it was in desperate need of a “li .” The reless efforts of our Media subcommittee not only brought us into the current decade but also produced two versions of this presentation to choose from.

Background: The PI Summit Handbook has been two years in the making. Having been brought to the conference floor in 2025 and returned to committee; requested edits were made, and we now believe it is ready for the approval of the fellowship.
4. Motion 4: To approve the “Presentation to Healthcare Professionals” slideshow
Background: It was recognized by our committee members that the current professional presentation slide show available to our fellows was less than stellar. Our new Professional Outreach Committee has created this presentation for outreach to the healthcare professionals

I made this from one of our approved P.I. posters. Anyone using it can simply layer their local website link at the bo om when they post it. I submit it for approval by the world service P.I. committee so that it can be made available for use worldwide.

Response: The committee is working on developing an updated version of the PI Rocks video.
Referral 15689018 – Individual Submission
Summary: Asking each committee and the boards to adopt pp 15-17 of the Archives handbook to unify naming conventions for saved materials (literature, documents, handbooks, files, digital assets, etc). Further, that each committee/board determine that their current files/documents etc confirm to the naming convention.
Response: The committee needs more guidance to make the necessary changes.

Summary: Change the date of the Professionals week from right after the holidays to a date later in the year. Trying to get good involvement right after the holidays is very difficult. Also, the professionals we are trying to reach seem too burned out after the holidays. Professionals seem more engaged later in the year. It is requested that the professionals week changed to a month along with changing the date.
Response: The committee agrees with this request for a change of date. The committee is working through the process of how to accomplish this change and what handbooks, manuals, guidelines and posters will need to be edited/changed.
Referral 16695826 – Individual Submission
Summary: “Could you add guidelines on using the Google Play and App Store icons on posters and literature? C.A. Irl is looking to add the QR codes on their pamphlets and I just discovered during conference that we have to use the store icons when linking to them.”
Response: The committee is continuing to work on an answer to this request.
Referral 17751991 – Individual Submission
Summery: There is concern that Areas using social media to promote PI content may expose people who interact with that content to tracking, profiling, and the collec on or sharing of potentially sensitive information. While the intention is to help people find Cocaine Anonymous, there may be unintended privacy and anonymity risks.
Response: The committee is con nuing to work on an answer to this request.

Summary: “Add transgender to list of gender identities and master’s level and doctoral level to highest level of education in the PI survey. The program is a microcosm of the world. We evolve and grow as well. Let the survey reflect that.”
Referral 13587888– Individual Submission
Summary: “To recognize the need and significance of conducting demographic surveys to provide accurate and representative information to the public demonstrating the diverse nature of the fellowship. Asking to include a specific ques on about LGBTQIA+ demographics in all

future surveys. This new ques on is intended to reaffirm our commitment to diversity, inclusivity, and openness, thus accurately reflecting our fellowship to the general public.”
Response: The committee appreciates the importance of ensuring that our survey reflects the diversity of the communities we serve, and we would welcome the opportunity to include additional options, such as transgender, within the gender identity ques on.
However, because this survey is administered across multiple countries, we must ensure that all questions comply with the legal and regulatory requirements of each jurisdic on in which the survey is conducted. At this time, differences in those requirements prevent us from modifying the gender identity ques on in a way that would be legally compliant everywhere the survey is used.

Summary: “Would you consider organizing an Online PI Summit for Areas outside Europe and North America? This may fall under your outreach efforts. I believe this would help “loners” Areas to connect.”
Response: The 2026 European Summit was held in Ireland and Denmark with hybrid options available. The 2026 North American Summit was held in Phoenix. Arizona with a hybrid option available.
Referral 16651002 – Committee Submission (WSBT)
Summary: “Please note that the legal name of the Fellowship is Cocaine Anonymous World Services (CAWS). There is no such organization as Cocaine Anonymous World Services, Inc. (CAWS, Inc.) and any mention of that organization is incorrect. The World Service Board of Trustees is asking all World Service Conference Committees to review any and all Conference Approved Documents (World Service Manual, Committee Guidelines, etc.) and change any erroneous naming convention of Cocaine Anonymous World Services, Inc; CAWS, Inc., or anything other than Cocaine Anonymous World Services (CAWS) to the correct nomenclature.”
Response: Corrections have been made to the committee documents and will be brought to the floor for approval.
Referral 16638245 – Individual Submission
Summary: “It was raised by our committee during our group’s SR-14 voting process that the white hand holding the phone in the flyer does not reflect the diversity of our fellowship. This

was raised by several fellows who, before they joined CA, were concerned it appeared to be a heavily white fellowship which they worry may discourage future addicts from joining. We wanted to flag this as a friendly amendment.”
Response: The flyer was changed, was submitted without the image of a hand, and the flyer was approved at the 2025 WSC.
Referral 17278961 – Individual Submission
Summary: I was just looking through the PI handbook available on the world service website and noticed that Tradition 11 on page 7 still had the old wording. Please change this on the next edit for consistency. Thanks.
Response: The Tradition 11 wording has been updated in the handbook.

Summary: “I propose we charge the name of the PI members area to PI Resource Center or something similar.”
Response: The PI Members Area website is now named the “C.A. Public Information Resource Area website.”
Referral 16695762 – Individual Submission
Summary: “Would you consider creating new publication guidelines for Posters to ensure those are in-line with the C.A. Brand Guidelines?
Over the last 2 Conferences, there’s been a lot of amendments made on the floor when reviewing posters. I believe that by establishing a more robust review and approval process against prior to submitting posters in the SR-14 would help at least reduce some issues raised at Conference. In addition, it would be good for an audit of all approved posters to be completed and updates done to correct some of the issues highlighted above.”
Response: The flyer design & approval guide passed at the 2025 Conference can be used for poster design also, it follows the same process. The committee has reviewed previously approved posters and have made corrections on posters we have fully editable versions of. Some of the posters can only be edited with localized information and QR codes.

Summary: “Would you consider the following for the 2025 SR-14 Delegate Mailing and subsequent SR-14 mailings?

1) Present a version of a poster, where it clearly indicates what can be localised, what with (being email address, website, phone numbers, icon, “flag”, etc.), and what can be translated (meaning message that cannot be changed in its meaning and can only be translated).
2) Present an example of what it would look like translated / localised.
I think this would really help the Fellowship understand what can and cannot be changed and help the delegates share with enthusiasm to support your committee and PI around the world.”
Response: Thank you for the suggestion. We understand the value of helping delegates and the Fellowship better understand what elements of a poster can be adapted for local use. At the conference, however, we are not able to present multiple translated versions of posters due to the potential for translation errors and the difficulty of reviewing and approving translations in multiple languages. For this reason, all posters are presented in English. Once approved, they are uploaded to pi.ca.org for Fellowship use. The majority of our posters are designed so that they can be edited, and all posters allow for localized information to be added, such as local contact details, websites, phone numbers, meeting information, and other Area/District/Region-specific resources. If anyone would like assistance with localization or have questions about possible translations, please contact us at pi@ca.org. We are happy to work with committees and delegates to help ensure materials are adapted appropriately while maintaining the integrity of the approved poster. We would also like to encourage the Fellowship to submit poster designs to the committee for consideration, including posters created in languages other than English.
The committee would greatly appreciate receiving as many submissions as possible that reflect the needs of our worldwide Fellowship. Expanding the variety of available materials helps us better serve Cocaine Anonymous communities around the world.
Referral 16543214 – Individual Submission/Transferred to PI from WBST
As part of Cocaine Anonymous ongoing efforts to ensure accurate and a respectful representation of our fellowship, this referral asks the WSBT to consider and approve the following conference approved verbiage and a link to the C.A. Museum website which includes a full and accurate history of Cocaine Anonymous. As Wikipedia is a widely used public resource, the page’s content should reflect CA’s history, mission, and principles in a manner consistent with our Traditions and archival practices. The Archives Committee believes that the following content will satisfy the original referral and should then be referred to PI to execute the action as it is outside of Archives purview to do so.
The WSBT has reviewed the documentation as presented by the WSC Archives Committee and are happy with all items as presented. We concur with the Archives Committee that this should be handled by the PI Committee as Wikipedia is a Public Facing Website and in the purview of the WSC PI Committee

Response: This referral was forwarded to the PI Committee from the WSBT. The Conference approved verbiage and a link to the C.A. Museum website has been added to Wikipedia as requested and approved in the referral.
PRESENTATIONS OF CURRENT ACTIVITIES OR TASKS (no motions)
The PI Committee has some new projects in the works, along with continuing the projects we already have underway. We’re working on: New and more diverse posters that better reflect the people we want to reach. New videos that are easy to understand, interesting, and help share our message. New and more creative ways to reach the Fellowship and the public.
Finding better ways to connect with medical professionals and legal professionals so they know who we are and how the Fellowship may be able to help. Looking for new ideas and opportunities to get our information out into the community. We want to keep things fresh, creative, and welcoming. Most importantly, we want to make sure our message is reaching people who may need us. We appreciate everyone who has shared ideas, materials, contacts, and suggestions with the PI Committee. Keep them coming!
CLOSING COMMENTS:
The Public Information Committee wants to thank the Fellowship for your input, comments, referrals, shared materials, friendly suggestions and support. The PI committee believes that the survival of the fellowship falls on each of us to be “PI Ready” and our “PI ready warriors” should have every tool we can provide. PI has taken every step of this year’s journey with joyous singleness of purpose…. Carrying the message to the addict who still suffers.
